The Full Story
My name is Dakota Doan, and I’m proud to be a Yakima Valley native. I grew up in Selah, WA, and graduated from A.C. Davis High School. After high school, I attended Wenatchee Valley College, where I played baseball while working construction during the summers for my uncle, Victor Gabbard — a well-known local contractor and owner of Gabbard Construction.
After college, I joined the Carpenters Union and spent the next three years gaining hands-on experience across a wide variety of projects. I worked on everything from local residential and commercial jobs to major infrastructure projects like the Cle Elum Fish Passage Tunnel at the Cle Elum Dam. I later moved to Seattle, where I worked for several large companies on high-profile projects, including the Microsoft Campus Modernization in Redmond, the Bellevue Powerplant, and highway construction on I-97.
In 2021, I started DJD Construction LLC. What began as a one-man operation taking on small residential jobs has grown into a full-service construction company. After moving back to Yakima, I began handling larger remodels, city and local business projects, and subcontracting for larger general contractors. By 2023, I shifted my focus to full home renovations and house flipping.
Now in 2025, DJD Construction specializes in remodels and renovations throughout the Yakima Valley. I’ve built strong relationships with reliable subcontractors, and I come from a family deeply rooted in the construction trades. At DJD Construction, we lead with integrity, precision, and a commitment to quality. My goal is to build lasting relationships with every client by delivering work we can both be proud of.
